The Mountain State Trout Festival - June 1 - June 2, 2013

West Virginia Trout Unlimited is proud to present the first ever Mountain State Trout Festival beginning in 2013 at Snowshoe Mountain Resort in Snowshoe, WV. This event will become a rendezvous for trout fishing enthusiasts from across West Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic region. It is expected that more than 1,000 anglers may attend. It is no coincidence that the first weekend in June marks one of the most magical periods for trout fishing in the Mountain State as insect hatches are at a peak.

Snowshoe Mountain Resort

Picture
Snowshoe Mountain Resort lies smack dab in the middle of some of the best trout fishing in the east. It's no secret that the festival is also being held during prime hatches! Snowshoe features many fantastic amenities and provides numerous lodging options from suites to economy priced rooms. Most of the activities for Saturday, June 1, will occur on top of Snowshoe Mountain in the Expo Center as well as the children's fishing derby at Cheat Mountain Lake! A parent or guardian must accompany the child on the chair lift to the beautiful lake for a fun bit of competition.

Visit SnowshoeMtn.com for details on lodging and other activities that are available for your weekend at the Mountain State Trout Festival!

Volunteers, Sponsors & Donors

An event of this magnitude is not possible without the hard work and time donated by volunteers. The Mountain State Trout Festival is a sanctioned event by the WV Council of Trout Unlimited which is chartered by Trout Unlimited National as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Council secures permits and liability insurance for this event. The Council entity provides funding with other sponsors to underwrite this event. The Council holds all funds and disperses profits to the WV Department of Natural Resources and US Forest Service for trout conservation projects that are made possible by this Festival. Profits will be also be used for youth education fishery programs. Some funds will be retained as seed money for next year's event.

Most of the volunteers are members of Chapters across the state of West Virginia. Other organizational volunteers and non-profit support are welcome to volunteer. You do not need to be a TU member to volunteer or participate. All donations are tax deductible.

Special business and individual sponsorship recognition for those who extend the mission of WVTU to conserve, protect, restore and reconnect our coldwater fisheries.
